Torch Lilies / Red Hot Pokers / Kniphofias are a common sight in Canberra in summer, especially since their colours certainly catch the eye.
Just like the Agapanthus plant, seen here in the background, these are considered by many as attractive (and very hardy) garden plants. Beyond the garden, they both grow out of control and are commonly considered noxious weeds.

This has been the first time that I have used Big Lens, and I must say that I was very impressed with this depth-of-field app. The only weakness was the Auto selection tool which worked only moderately well, and didn't provide any threshold or similar control over the selection. However, the HDR+ was a nice filter, and the Focus and Blur tools were nicely implemented. (See full processing notes below for further details.)
Barton, ACT, Australia.
Phone 5 - Photograph taken with the camera on an iPhone 5.
Camera - The native Camera app was used with the HDR option.
TouchRetouch - Some small blemishes retouched.
Laminar - Image cropped to square format and resized to 2448 x 2448 pixels.
Snapseed - Structure and Ambience filters applied. Overall lighting adjustments carried out.
Photoshop Express - Noise reduction and Sharpening filters applied with manual settings.
Big Lens - Focus areas chosen with a combination of the Brush, Eraser and Auto tools. HDR+ turned on. F3.5 selected, approximately 70% blur applied. Some selective sharpening also applied using the Focus brush tool.
Superimpose - Big Lens and Photoshop Express outputs combined using Normal mode and a 50:50 blend.
