I just made an order for 2 hard drives on Buy.com and saw that my last order was almost five years ago and was also for a hard drive (singular).
Today, I'm getting 4 TB for 7, about 18.5 gigabytes per dollar.
In 2006, I got only 2.1 gigabytes per dollar.
Moore's Law, which predicts a doubling of transistors on a circuit every two years and is said to apply to other aspects of computing, would have predicted 16 GB/dollar by 2012, so the hard drive deals are coming along pretty nicely.

Why do you have to have a partition on your Mac to be able to create the emergency drive on an external device? It's probably because Disk Assistant requires the data on the partition to create the external drive. If the partition is missing or corrupt ... external hard drives
